From farm-to-table kitchens to riverside classics. As always: multi-list agreements first, every card shows all three judges, and nobody paid to be here.
This is the largest category on the site and the least precise, because "Thai" is doing an enormous amount of work: it holds farm kitchens in the Mae Rim valley, riverside dining rooms, shophouse rice-and-curry counters, hotel restaurants and a long tail of places whose whole menu is the thing you already know how to order. Treat it as the starting point rather than the shortlist.
The useful distinction inside it is format, not price. A raan khao gaeng — the rice-and-curry shop where you point at trays and pay by the plate — is a fundamentally different meal from a sit-down room with a laminated menu, even when the cooking is comparable and the bill is close. The first is a lunch, eaten fast, chosen by looking. The second is an evening, and it is where the English menus, the reservations and the review counts live.
It is also the category where our three judges most often actually meet. Most entries across the site appear on one source only; the handful here that carry a Google rating, a TripAdvisor rank and a MICHELIN listing are the closest thing this dataset has to a consensus, and they sort to the top of the list below automatically.
This list holds 69 places, 34 with a Google rating (averaging 4.6★), 21 with a TripAdvisor score and 19 in the MICHELIN Guide. 5 appear on more than one judge's list and sort to the top; 17 sit in the cheapest price band, 4 in the top two and 34 carry no published price.

Sort by agreement, not by score. The cards are ordered so that restaurants seen by more than one judge come first. A 4.9★ from ninety reviewers on one platform is a weaker signal than a 4.6★ that TripAdvisor and MICHELIN both independently noticed.
Use the price filter as a format filter. If you want the pointing-at-trays version, cheap eats is the same data cut by price and it is a much shorter list to read.
Do not read a missing rating as a bad one. Roughly half the entries here carry no Google score at all, and a large share of those are guide-listed kitchens that the ranked platforms simply do not cover.
Ratings are Google and TripAdvisor listings captured August 2026; MICHELIN status is the Guide's Chiang Mai selection. A blank column means our sources hold no score for that restaurant, which on some categories is the norm rather than a warning — how we built this.
