International in Chiang Mai

French-Thai icons, fusion rooms and everything in between. As always: multi-list agreements first, every card shows all three judges, and nobody paid to be here.

This is the catch-all, and it is the second-largest category on the site: French, Mexican, Mediterranean, burgers, fusion rooms, bars that cook seriously, and the hotel restaurants that do not fit anywhere narrower. Read it as "the food you would recognise", broadly defined.

It is also, by a distance, the category the ranked platforms know best. More entries here carry a Google rating than in any other bucket on the site — a direct consequence of these being the restaurants searched for in English, sat in for two hours, and reviewed by people writing for other visitors. If you want the part of Chiang Mai's restaurant scene that the rankings actually measure well, this is it.

Which is worth saying plainly, because it cuts both ways. The high review counts here are real evidence about these restaurants and are not evidence that they are the city's best cooking. The MICHELIN inspectors placed almost nothing in this category. Both facts are true at once, and the honest way to use this page is as the answer to "where can I have a reliably good evening in a language I read", not to "what is Chiang Mai good at".

This list holds 61 places, 44 with a Google rating (averaging 4.6★), 13 with a TripAdvisor score and 4 in the MICHELIN Guide. No entry here appears on more than one judge's list, so the ordering below is a ranking of single opinions; 4 sit in the cheapest price band, 5 in the top two and 22 carry no published price.

How to use this list

This is the best-measured list on the site — use that. Review counts here are deep enough that the ordering is genuinely informative, unlike on the Northern Thai and noodle pages.

Fusion is a warning word and a promise word. The strong entries below are kitchens with a point of view; the weak ones are Western menus with lemongrass added. The review depth will tell you which.

Pair it with a guide page. If you are in Chiang Mai for a week, this category is one or two evenings. The MICHELIN list and the Lanna table are what the trip is for.

Ratings are Google and TripAdvisor listings captured August 2026; MICHELIN status is the Guide's Chiang Mai selection. A blank column means our sources hold no score for that restaurant, which on some categories is the norm rather than a warning — how we built this.
